Gangtey Trek is a short admired trekking in Bhutan. It is pretty easy than other trekking of Bhutan. It grants scenic vistas with mostly gentle forested slopes. Here, proposed the trip of Gangtey Trek is the combination of trekking as well as travel around three major tourist destinations of Bhutan: Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha.

Gangtey Trek starts from traveling to Paro with the visit of National Museum, Fortress followed by hiking to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Then you drive to Gangtey valley with a stopover in Thimphu. Gangtey, famed also as Phobijikha Valley, is the winter home of endangered black-necked cranes that arrive every year from the Tibetan Plateau.

The trekking begins leaving this wide beautiful valley and leads to the southwest through the meadows and fields. Then the trail winds all the way through forests of juniper, bamboo, magnolia, and rhododendrons with ups and downs. En route it meets beautiful hamlets and crosses mountain passes. Ultimately the trek ends at Tikke Zampa and then drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan.

In Punakha you visit of Punakha Dzong, It is the picturesque ancient fortress standing on an island between the confluences of the two rivers. Next, you visit Chimmi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility before heading back to Thimphu.

In Thimphu, you make a sightseeing of National Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong (the secretariat of Bhutan government and office of the King with throne room), Institute of Traditional Medicine, Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, and Arts School.

Finally, you drive to Paro for your departure from Bhutan.

Getting into Bhutan

There are only two Airlines (Druk Air- Royal Bhutan Airline and Bhutan Airlines) which flying in and out of Bhutan. Both airlines have a flight from Kathmandu to Paro. Lots of visitors travel Bhutan via Kathmandu Nepal- the country of Mount Everest with the beautiful Himalayas.
